How to Write an Address for a Complex, Estate or Office Park

Complexes, estates and office parks need more than a street number. The right order for unit, building and estate details so parcels reach your door.

A street number in a complex or estate often leads to a gate, not a door. Couriers and the Post Office need a few extra details to get your parcel to the right unit.

The order to use

  1. Name (and company for office parks)
  2. Unit or door number, and block or building name
  3. Complex, estate or office park name
  4. Street number and street name of the main entrance
  5. Suburb
  6. City or town
  7. Postal code (the street code)

Extra tips

  • Give the main gate’s street address, not a side gate, unless the estate tells you otherwise.
  • Add a phone number and, if your estate uses them, gate access instructions in the delivery notes.
  • Large estates sometimes have their own entry in the postal code list. Search for the estate name first.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use the estate name or the suburb?

Both. The estate name helps the driver at the gate, and the suburb and postal code route the parcel.

Does a complex have its own postal code?

Usually not. It uses the code of the suburb it is in. Some large estates are listed separately with the same or a nearby code.
