Privacy Policy

What information ZarPostalCodes handles, why, and how long we keep it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

This policy explains what information ZarPostalCodes.co.za handles and why. We collect as little as possible.

Searches

What you type into the search box is sent to our server to find matching suburbs and codes. We do not link searches to you, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Your location

The near me page asks your browser for your location only when you press the button. The coordinates are used once to find nearby postal codes and are not stored.

Contact form

If you send us a message, we keep your name, email address and message so that we can reply and act on corrections. We do not use your details for marketing or share them with anyone. Messages are deleted once they are no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your message at any time through the contact page.

Maps

Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap tile servers, which receive your IP address and browser details as part of serving the images.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and sends this information to Google, which processes it under its own privacy policy. We do not use it to identify you. You can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Advertising

We may show ads from Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised ads in Google’s ad settings. Our ads.txt file lists the ad sellers we authorise.

Cookies

Besides the analytics and advertising cookies above, the site itself does not set tracking cookies. Website administrators who log in receive the standard WordPress login cookies.

Server logs

Like most websites, our host keeps standard server logs, including IP address, pages requested and time, for security and troubleshooting.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Use the contact page to make a request.
