New Post Office Postage Fees Took Effect on 1 April 2026
ICASA gazetted new fees for the Post Office's reserved services from 1 April 2026. Where to find the official rates and what counts as reserved.
New fees for the South African Post Office’s reserved postal services came into effect on 1 April 2026, after ICASA gazetted the updated schedule. The fees are reviewed each year and change at the beginning of April.
What are reserved postal services?
They are the basic mail services the Post Office is licensed to provide exclusively. They include letters and postcards, the issue of postage stamps and the management of PO Boxes (address boxes). Whether small parcels under 1kg are still included is in dispute after a December 2025 government directive removed them.
Where to find the rates
ICASA publishes the gazetted fee schedules on its Postal Services Fees and Charges page. MyBroadband also published tables comparing old and new fees. We do not reproduce the prices here, so you always see the official figures.
Save on returned mail
Postage paid on a letter with the wrong postal code is postage wasted if it comes back. Check the code before you post:
